My story

Our Dental Service at Ashford Hospital has requested a new generation electric bone saw called the Acteon Piezotome M+ Cube.  It will be used in the newly equipped dental suite and treatment rooms. This new cube bone saw is highly powerful and incredibly versatile, allowing the doctor to perform delicate implant procedures.

Such a device is very useful in removing buried teeth, accurately shaping bone, speeding up tooth movement with braces, and lifting bone grafts for reconstructive facial surgery.  Because the saw blade vibrates very quickly and only moves a tiny distance it does not cut any soft tissues such as nerves, skin and mucosa (the lining of the mouth). Patients tolerate this well under local anaesthetic and recovery times are short because the saw causes very little trauma.

The new device embodies the next step in superior and atraumatic osseous surgery procedures. It ensures predictable outcomes and enhanced healing by significantly reducing swelling, pain and bleeding. The enhanced procedure is less traumatic for patients, significantly reduces healing time and often means that a procedure can be completed in one single appointment.
